Los Angeles, Orange County region sees biggest tech-talent gain in North America

The Orange County and Greater Los Angeles area recently leaped to the fifth largest tech-talent labor pool in the US—the biggest jump in any North American market, placing ninth in CBRE’s 2021 Scoring Tech Talent report.

In recent years, the OC/LA region has been increasingly able to attract and foster talented technology companies, such as General Motors, whose Advanced Design center will move to Pasadena, and Irvine-based Rivian Automotive, the largest electric truck developer in the US. The region is establishing itself as an attractive and innovative hub, with people migrating from other hubs, such as the Bay Area, at an increasing rate.

“There is no place on Earth that would have more advantages for mobility technologies than Southern California,” said Matt Gardner, president of the California Tech Council, referencing the expansive network of research institutions and inflow of venture capital.

With big and small tech companies moving to an area fertile with new ideas, there is the potential for thousands of talented people to be drawn to Orange County. To discover more about the talent gains in the Los Angeles and Orange Counties, read OCBJ’s article here.
