Welcome to the CEO Leadership Alliance of Orange County
A bi-monthly update from your CLA-OC team
Hello *|FNAME|*,
So many within the CLA-OC community helped us to a productive first quarter executing against our 2021 goals (click here to download).
Significantly, talent development and retention, concentrated around AI and emerging technologies, has become the focal point of our mission to grow OC into a top tier innovation hub in America, especially for those lacking career pathways to 21st century higher paying jobs.
Of note in this Newsletter, we summarize our recent Executive Committee meeting and the tremendous progress of our Education workstream under the leadership of Kimberly Chavalas Cripe, President of CHOC. We also profile Jasmine Pachnanda, who has greatly strengthened our senior leadership team as SVP, SoCal Artificial Intelligence Initiative.
Finally, we are thrilled to welcome two new Executive Committee members. Jeremy Laster from Rancho Mission Viejo brings a keen perspective on the largest undeveloped portion of South Orange County and an exciting vision for what is to come. Elim Kay, Co-Chair and a founding partner of REDDS Capital, has been a key part of our Executive AI Working Group and has a demonstrated passion for CLA-OC's mission.
For a thriving OC,
Mark Percy

The CLA-OC Executive Committee's March meeting brought into focus three pilot programs, working in new ways with community partners, to build early career development pipelines for individual companies.
The "Talent Bridge" plan, now being employed by Alteryx, CHOC and several others, was developed in concert with Education and Business stakeholders to achieve greater systems alignment, while expanding opportunities for underserved students in Orange County.

In early February CLA-OC welcomed Jasmine Pachnanda as Senior Vice President to lead CLA-OC's SoCal AI Initiative. This is a critical role for our organization, as artificial intelligence (AI) is a shared capability and accelerator across the flywheel of our CLA-OC strategy.

Our own Doug Wilson and Dick Gochnauer are playing a vital leadership role in forming a learning community of CEO-led groups, similar to CLA-OC, from across the U.S. to share best practices.
Reaching from Washington D.C., Chicago, Houston, and Minneapolis to Silicon Valley, this network welcomes CEOs, regional market presidents, and heads of local business organizations to improve the quality of life in their respective communities through business-led collective impact initiatives.
In partnership with the Center for Higher Ambition Leadership, the coalition is holding bi-monthly calls and will gather together in Laguna Beach in February, 2022 to accelerate needed change and deepen leadership capabilities.
