This note arrives as we face together the unprecedented challenge of a triple crisis:
1. A Health Crisis that will test, in every way, our health care system on a monumental scale,
2. A Financial Crisis severely straining most businesses, banks and governments at all levels,
3. A Jobs Crisis with labor shifts never before experienced and possibly depression levels of unemployment.
Virtually all of CLA-OC's member companies have been responding to this crisis exhibiting purpose-driven leadership. We are proud of every one of our 40 plus CEO members.
These same members were asked how CLA-OC should respond, and there was a strong consensus around staying true to our core Mission - to build OC into a top-tier innovation hub - and continue to prepare for the jump start of our economy.
At the same time, the four Workstreams of our flywheel strategy will develop useful resources in this crisis. Our Education Workstream partners compiled the COVID-19 Distance Learning Resources that can help parents, teachers, and employers. Another resource explains how Employers can make "Disaster Payments" to COVID-19 affected Employees. We will post future resources to our website.
CLA-OC is trying hard to understand and adapt our strategy to the new post-pandemic reality. We also promise to collaborate with our many community partners in every sector to restore hope and opportunity to ALL in our county. The relationships forged in these troubling days will serve us well when we rebuild with confidence and purpose.
Be well,
Mark Percy

In mid-March, CLA members were welcomed to a virtual panel discussion with CEOs across the nation who are playing central roles in addressing the COVID-19 crisis.
Facilitated by the Center for Higher Ambition Leadership, this intimate conversation addressed foundational leadership issues woven with real time news from the battle against the worldwide pandemic that has stretched our health care system and engulfed our economy.

CLA-OC partners with a wide range of education stakeholders. Most are in OC but we have received key assistance in EdTech from USC Rossier EdVentures. Dean Cline is Senior Managing Director of EdVentures, serves on the Advisory Board for the OC Excellent Public Schools Initiative (OCEPS) at Chapman, and works to advance learning innovators who have operational ventures.
